Covered by a worldwide patent, Kompact is the only staircase with adjustable rise, going, height, depth and rotation. Its total flexibility allows endless configurations, with 1 or 2 one quarter turns (L or U) to fit any space. The kit comes with 13 risers (12 treads) and internal railing. The going is adjustable between 7 and 8 inches and between 8 and 10 inches depending on configurations. The riser is adjustable between 6 and 9 inches.
With the purchase of one or more additional tread kits you can reach a height of 146 inches. The treads are clear sealed solid beech with metal supports and matching balusters and accessories. The handrail is solid beech. In place of a pony or half wall along your top floor or opening, balcony rail kits of identical materials and finish are available to complete the contemporary appearance of your staircase.
The height of the staircase is adjustable from 88 inches to 119 inches, and with additional riser kits a maximum height of 147 inches is obtainable. Kompact kits are available in 2 widths, 29" or 35" and can be turned left or right.
The actual tread length is 27 1/2" x 10 1/2" deep, or 33 1/2" x 12 1/4" deep and are 1 5/8" thick. Metal is 12 gauge steel. Handrail is beech wood 1 3/4" diameter.
The Kompact has an upright floor support column that is used under either tread 5,6 or 7. The base attachment and header attachment can be mounted into wood or concrete. Anchors for concrete are supplied.

01. What are the necessary dimensions for the opening of the hole for the staircase?
The ceiling opening should have at least the dimensions of the staircase less two treads.
02. Can one assemble 2 KITS one on the top of each other?
Yes. The first staircase is to be fitted on the first floor not ground floor. Therefore the first tread must necessarily have a support on the floor. The assembly of this staircase will be possible only after having created a temporary floor in order to close the intermediate ceiling hole. The G08 pole must be attached to the wall. After having assemblied this first staircase, you can carry on with the fitting of the inferior floor.
03. What do you use the G08 pole for?
This supporting pole gives stability to the staircase.
04. Do you always have to use the G08 pole of the Kompact?
Yes, in order to achieve the necessary stability.
05. How do you fix the G08 pole to the floor?
Once you have assembled the staircase, read the shedules 2, 3, 4 and 5 in the assembly instructions in order to point out where the little black spot is located (generally under the treads 5 or 6 or 7). Insert the cap D31 in one of the two pole ends and insert the element C35. At this point insert everything in the support N21. The end with the cap will land on the floor. Before finishing using the elements B20, put C35 under the support, lift the staircase slightly in order to pre-load the pole (assembly instructions ).

06. How do you fix the G08 pole?
Having a solid wall is very important in order to fix the floor pole to the wall. The G08 must be fixed to the wall at a distance of at least 15 cm. Once you have finished assembling the staircase, before you take the supports away, you must cut the pole to the desired length (see the figure 11 in the assembly instructions). Consult the schedules 2, 3, 4 and 5, in the assembly instructions, in order to check where the little black spot is located (generally under treads 5 or 6 or 7), and drill the wall. Before drilling the wall it is advisable to lift the staircase a little more in order to allow the pre-loading of the walled pole. We advise you not to take the support away before the clamp is fixed (assembly instructions ).

07. During the assembly of the staircase, is it necessary to fix it somehow?
After you have fixed the first 3 or 4 supports (and every 3 or 4 supports), it is necessary to discharge their load using some supports (a wooden board or similar) in order to avoid overloading the ceiling.
08. How does one fix the stair to the floor?
The staircase must be fixed in concrete. Otherwise our parts B38 will be too short, you will need to buy some longer ones.
